India 2014 – Handpump Intallation

In Uttararkhand, North of India, Bageshwar district, there is one village called Naikhhana Khumtya.

It’s a village occupying about 200 people. Due to its location (high level, in the mountains), the resident of this village do not have easily access to safe drinking water. The nearest point is well several kilometers far away. Which is not practical at all.

A local NGO, Maharishi Yogiraj Kalyan Samiti, informed me about the problem via Mr K. Sourav ( thanks for the advices !!)

I started to analyze the project and decided to try to solve the problem.

Field study with hydraulic engineers was carried out and it was decided that the best solution would be the installation of a hand pump.

The work lasted about 25 days.

Mr DP Attrey, Mr Kaler ji & Manohar ji followed the work, without them couldn’t make it. Special thanks to Harry & Gunjan from Australia for their support.

The inauguration of the hand pump happened on October 2014. All the residents of the village were present that day. I was pleased to meet them, to exchange few words with them, also explaining them the use of the pump. They welcomed me warmly, gave me so many blessings… unforgettable moment!!!
